Packaging That Doesn't Harm the Earth

The Plastic Tide is rising, more and more marine litter and plastics are being dumped into our ocean and contributing to excess landfill and destruction of precious marine life. It is estimated that this plastic tide is rising by 8 million metric tonnes a year and that if nothing is done this will rise to 80 million metric tonnes a year by 2025.  It consists of all sizes of plastics, with larger pieces taking over 400 years to break down.

We are not only regularly using plastic bags, drink bottles and plastic bottles, our beauty products are more often than not packaged in plastic tubes and bottles.

One of our core principles at Edible Beauty is using sustainable and earth-friendly packaging that does not contribute to landfill and does not leach harmful toxins. Our Beauty Tea range is packaged in recyclable black rice paper bags and amber Apothecary Jar.

Our skincare is packaged in a unique and luxurious glass called Miron. Miron Glass blocks all UV light, only allowing violet light to penetrate the product. This means that not only is our skincare protected from the sunlight, the botanicals inside the product are actually energised and activated.

In fact, Miron Violet glass maintains and even enhances the high energy of the bottle or jar’s contents for a long period of time. Appreciation for the special protective qualities of violet glass can be traced back to ancient Egyptian civilisations, when valuable essences and natural healing products were kept in gold and violet glass containers.

Miron glass can be recycled however we encourage you to reuse the jars and bottles. Eternalising your Edible Beauty packaging helps us live up to our sustainability principles and allows you to extract the maximum benefit out of the packaging. Here are some of our tips:

Recycle your Miron Glass bottles by using them as:
– A vase for a single rose, gerbera, daffodil or orchid
– An incense stick holder
– A bottle for your favourite herbal elixir, homeopathic remedy

Recycle your Miron Glass jars by using them to store:
– Dried herbs
– Dried flowers or potpourri
– Jewelry
– Buttons, pins, paperclips etc
– Mints

Note: Be sure to sterilize the bottles before using them to store food items.
